Coal Oil Point Reserve, part of the University of California Natural Reserve System. 158 acres (63 ha). Est. 1970 to protect a wide variety of coastal and estuarine habitats, threatened Snowy Plover nesting sites and the thousands of migratory birds who visit throughout the year. Part of Audubon's designated Goleta Coast Important Bird Area (IBA).
