Ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens). Also Desert Coral, Coachwhip, Jacob's Staff, and Vine Cactus. Native to southwestern US and no. Mexico. Grows to 32 ft (10m). Bright crimson flowers appear especially after rainfall. Flowers are clustered at the tips of each mature stem. Individual flowers are pollinated by hummingbirds and native carpenter bees.
