A wooden box used to haul supplies for the Pacific Coast Borax Company is on display in the Boone Store and Warehouse, one of fewer than 170 structures remaining in the ghost town of Bodie (less than 5% of the original buildings). Gold discovered here in 1859. Designated National Historic Landmark in 1961; 1962 it became Bodie State Historic Park. Bodie named California's official state gold rush ghost town.
