An exterior wall on one of fewer than 170 structures remaining in the ghost town of Bodie (fewer that 5% of the original buildings); gold discovered here in 1859. Metal for roofing and siding was obtained from kerosene and gasoline cans that were cut open and flattened for use in construction. Designated National Historic Landmark in 1961; 1962 it became Bodie State Historic Park. Bodie named California's official state gold rush ghost town. Historic District, California State Park.
